Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. Practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out many long-term condition reviews. They may also act as chaperones in GP appointments.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are highly trained clinicians who can assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of acute illnesses and minor injuries. They are able to see patients with urgent or same-day health concerns, provide treatment and advice, and prescribe medication where appropriate.

ANPs also carry out many aspects of practice nurse care, including long-term condition management, health reviews and routine nursing appointments.

First Contact Physiotherapists

First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) are physiotherapists with an expertise in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions.

You can book an appointment directly with a physiotherapist via the receptionist, which means you won’t need to wait for a referral from a doctor.

Our First Contact Physiotherapists can:

  • Assess you and diagnose what’s happening
  • Give expert advice on how best to manage your condition
  • Refer you on to specialist services if necessary
