Patient Notice - Changes to Repeat Prescription Ordering
The NHS in Liverpool is making a change to how repeat prescriptions can be ordered.
From summer 2018 patients in Liverpool are no longer able to use a third party, such as a high street or internet pharmacy to order repeat prescriptions on their behalf.
Instead patients need to order repeat prescriptions direct from their GP – either in person at their practice, via GP online services, or by post.
A letter and information leaflet explaining this change in more detail was sent to all patients who may be affected by this change. This information is also available in a range of other languages and formats here.

Patients on repeat medications are requested to indicate which medications they require on their repeat request slip. Having handed this into reception the repeat prescription will be available after 4pm the following day.
For reasons of patient safety we do not normally accept repeat prescription requests by telephone. An exception is made for housebound patients. However we ask that they phone between 1pm and 2pm when the phone is less busy.
For patients on fewer medicines or whose prescription is unlikely to change, it is possible to lodge a number of prescriptions with your chosen community pharmacy. This may simplify obtaining your medication each month. Please ask at reception for further information.

Prescriptions can be ordered online. It is necessary to register with EMIS Access to enable this facility.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
